Chris Peterson

Founding Attorney

Chris Peterson is the owner of Peterson Law Group. He practices primarily in the areas of wills, trusts and estate planning; probate and trust administration; elder law; long term care planning; VA benefits planning; and business law. In addition to the law practice, Chris also owns WealthBuilder 1031.

He is a member of Wealth Counsel, Advisor's Forum and Elder Counsel, three leading organizations for estate planning and elder law attorneys nationwide. Chris is a Certified Estate Planner® through the National Institute of Certified Estate Planners. He has been a guest lecturer on estate planning for Texas A&M University's Certified Financial Planer courses. In addition, he is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, Inc., the National Institute of Certified Estate Planners, the National Association of Estate Planners and Councils, the State Bar of Texas Real Estate, Trust & Probate Section, and the Brazos County Bar Association.

Chris grew up in Bryan and graduated from Bryan High in 1989. In 1993, he received a Bachelor of Arts from Wheaton College in Political Science and Biblical & Theological Studies. He then obtained his Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Texas School of Law in 1996.

He is actively involved in the local community. Chris currently serves as a Ruling Elder for Westminster Presbyterian Church. He previously served as President of the Bryan School Board; President of the Bryan Business Council; Chairman of the Board of the Research Valley Partnership; Moderator of South Texas Presbytery; Vice President of the Bryan-Brazos County Economic Development Foundation; Chairman of the Texas Triangle Regional Center for Innovation and Commercialization; Vice Chair of the Board of Directors of Bryan Texas Utilities; and on the Wheaton College Alumni Association Board of Directors, in addition to many other civic, nonprofit and church boards.

Besides practicing law, Chris is a serial entrepreneur and has been involved in starting businesses ranging from a local community newsmagazine, chocolates, title company, and real estate development.

Chris has been married to his college sweetheart, Debbie since 1996. They have 3 kids (one of whom is adopted).
